A Different Perspective | Our Year Over Year Stats

The 2020 real estate market has seen its ups, downs, and some surprising changes. Despite the obstacles we are facing in current times, we have witnessed exciting company growth here at Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty. The market is hot and it doesn’t quite show signs of slowing yet, in fact September gave us a different perspective on what the market is doing right now in the Hampton Roads and what it means to us.

 

In terms of “Under Contract Volume” in September of 2019 we were at $20.5 Million. Now this year for September we hit $41 Million, meaning there was a 100% increase in Under Contract Volume Year Over Year.

 

Our “SOLD Homes Sales Volume” September of last year was $16 Million, but this year it was $37 Million. We had a 131.25% increase in SOLD Homes Sales Volume Year Over Year.

 

We sat down with Principal Broker, Kris Weaver, to hear what he had to say regarding our September growth over the last year.

According to Kris, these numbers are important for us because “This last quarter was the first quarter where we saw huge movement. The first quarter and second quarter didn’t see much movement, but the third quarter gives a full picture of what the market is doing now post-covid. For the real estate market, covid lasted about 2-3 weeks”.

What this means for current agents is, “Agents are going into overdrive, especially the ones working with buyers. They’re probably working 5x as hard. Both the agent and the buyers are needing to have a level of patience to make it to the finish line, that is unprecedented,” Kris Weaver stated.

For incoming agents, “this means that leadership and mentorship are more important than ever – without them, new agents are going to just spin their wheels. Some of the stuff we are doing right now in this market is counterintuitive to what we are used to,” according to Kris.

We saved the best question for last : What is your growth goal for 2021? In Kris’ words, “We are looking to bring our total agent count to 125 of the most highly productive agents in the Hampton Roads (by the end of 2021). We are striving as a company to sell 1,700 homes”.
